Summer Course - Summer Course on Health Resilience in Disaster: Community and Clinical Responses to Climate Risks

Course Description

"The Summer Course on Health Resilience in Disaster: Community and Clinical Responses to Climate Risks is an international intensive program designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical skills in addressing health challenges associated with climate change and disasters. As climate-related disasters continue to increase globally, strengthening health resilience at both community and clinical levels has become an urgent priority. Conducted from 3–13 August 2026 in a hybrid format, this 48-hour program (equivalent to 3 academic credits) combines online and onsite learning experiences across Semarang, Jepara, and Karimunjawa Island, Indonesia. Participants will explore key topics including climate-related disaster epidemiology, behavioral and psychosocial health responses, medication therapy management during disasters, food security and nutrition resilience, and community resilience and coping strategies. Learning activities include interactive lectures, workshops, disaster simulations, case studies, laboratory experiences, and field-based learning activities. Participants will engage in community adaptation and coastal resilience activities in Jepara, as well as climate and island resilience exploration in Karimunjawa. Clinical and academic exposure will also be provided through learning experiences at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, affiliated laboratories, and healthcare facilities. The 2026 Summer Course is organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, in collaboration with international co-host institutions: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Philippines, and Koriyama Women's University, Japan*. The program welcomes undergraduate and postgraduate students, healthcare professionals, residents, and participants from related disciplines worldwide."
