The International Tropical Summer Course (ITroSCo) 2026

course

"The International Tropical Summer Course (ITroSCo) is an annual program organized by the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Diponegoro University (UNDIP), Indonesia. Now in its eighth year, ITroSCo has evolved into a vibrant academic platform that brings together students, researchers, and professionals from around the world to explore tropical marine and fisheries science in an immersive and interdisciplinary setting. This year, ITroSCo 2026 adopts the theme ""Resilient Coasts: Microplastics, Blue Carbon, and Human-Induced Disasters."" This theme addresses some of the most urgent and interconnected environmental challenges of our era — from the pervasive threat of microplastic pollution and the critical role of blue carbon ecosystems in climate mitigation, to the increasing frequency of human-induced coastal disasters. The program aims to foster a deeper understanding of coastal resilience through science, governance, and community action. The program will be held entirely online as a Virtual Course (MOOC) from 27 August to 9 September 2026. This fully digital format allows participants from across the globe to engage with expert lecturers, collaborate with international peers, and contribute to building a more sustainable and resilient future for our oceans and coastal communities — without the barrier of geographical distance. Join us at ITroSCo 2026 to expand your knowledge, connect with a global network of marine science professionals and researchers, and be part of the solution to today's most pressing coastal challenges."
